Sam Cowie is a British journalist based in São Paulo, Brazil. He often reports about the Brazilian Amazon and his work has been published by The Guardian, The Financial Times, Al Jazeera, BBC, Mongabay, The Intercept, Folha de S. Paulo and Valor Econômico. He has also reported from Mozambique, Swaziland, Paraguay and India.
In 2017 Sam was the first journalist to interview convicted killer of Sir Peter Blake, Reccardo Colares Tavares in an Amazon prison. The article Sam wrote was published in the Guardian and Sunday Star Times. He joined the Garden of Evil production for a follow up interview with Tavares on camera for the first time.
